Meet Hamish

Background

Hamish’s practice focuses on client counseling and litigation in a wide-range of business and personal contexts.  He developed his skills handling antitrust, securities litigation, class actions and other large, complex commercial litigation in a large-firm context, which gives him a sophisticated approach to client problems using cutting edge tools and technology in concert with trusted methods of legal analysis and trial process.

Emphasis

Hamish’s practice includes representing and advising start-up businesses, Fortune 100 companies, sporting organizations, individuals and local, regional and national business entities in a wide-range of corporate governance, litigation, dispute, risk avoidance and business circumstances. He has handled a wide variety of disputes from pre-litigation negotiation, through trial and the appeal process from both the plaintiff and defense perspective.  He understands that every representation requires a different approach; that the client’s strategic goals are most important; and that practical considerations, such as costs and principles, matter.

Experience

Hamish provides business and legal advice in numerous settings—such as providing risk avoidance, general counsel and corporate governance services to clients—so as to identify and address potential issues long before they can give rise to costly disputes or legal difficulties.

Education

Hamish received his B.A. in English Literature from Indiana University, which he attended on an honor's division academic scholarship. He received his J.D. magna cum laude from the Indiana University - Mauer School of Law in Bloomington, where he served as an editor on the Journal of Global Legal Studies and as the Executive Competition Coordinator for the Sherman Minton Moot Court. He was a member of the Order of the Coif.

Involvement

Hamish is active in his community and as a prior member of the Indiana University Sherman Minton Moot Court Board Advisory Committee. He routinely handles pro bono matters in a wide range of fields, including housing, tort and family law areas, and he has prior experience while working for Indiana University and as a prior board member of the St. Joseph School for the Deaf, Indianapolis, in adaptive education and related issues.  He volunteer coaches youth soccer and basketball at the Indianapolis Jewish Community Center and youth soccer in the Indianapolis Public School system.
