Jeff Furminger is an associate of Mattingly Burke Cohen & Biederman LLP.
Jeffrey is a registered patent attorney and a 2016 graduate of Indiana University's Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, IN. He has been a registered patent agent since 2011. Before joining MBCB, Jeffrey interned at the Seattle Art Museum, The Seattle Symphony, Indiana University’s Research and Technology Corporation, and the Fernandez & Associates law firm.
Jeff splits his time between intellectual property matters and general litigation. He enjoys working with clients to develop and strengthen their IP portfolios in view of their overall business strategies. While prepared to litigate when necessary, Jeff also enjoys helping clients protect their interests through alternative dispute resolution by endeavoring to find workable solutions that harmonize with his clients’ goals.
Jeffrey gained valuable experience during law school through several of the clinical programs and advocacy competitions at the Maurer School, as well as through his many internships. He was named a Senior Associate of the Intellectual Property Clinic where he assisted pro bono clients with a variety of patent and trademark matters. Through these experiences Jeff has drafted and prosecuted patents dealing with a wide range of subject matter, including biomaterials, materials science, imaging systems, medical devices, combustion engines, wireless tracking devices, and videoconferencing platforms.
Jeffrey graduated Cum Laude from Indiana University – Maurer School of Law in Bloomington with a concentration in intellectual property. During his time at Maurer, he served as the Senior Managing Editor of the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality, and as a Research Assistant for the Center of Intellectual Property Research. Prior to law school, Jeff studied pharmacy⏤with a minor in chemistry⏤at the University of Miami in Florida.
Jeff has participated in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition (in which he won brief writing honors), the Maurer Transactional Drafting Competition (where he took first place as overall winner and for best draft), the Law Meets IP Transactional Competition, and the International Patent Drafting Competition.
